Mission Statement

The purpose of Three Rivers Academy is to provide a quality education for boys and girls of average and above average intelligence. The goal at Three Rivers is academic excellence and social growth and development for its students. We strive to accomplish our purpose and goal by providing an atmosphere which is conducive to learning and by employing a well-qualified faculty. Three Rivers Academy has an accelerated curriculum and uses only grade level and advanced textbooks. The electives offered and extracurricular programs are designed to complement and strengthen the academic program and to provide every student with the opportunity to be involved in a school activity outside the classroom.

Beliefs

Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs. A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning. Students learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for success and can apply their learning in meaningful contexts. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process through a variety of instructional approaches that support their learning. Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding of essential knowledge and skills and be actively involved in solving problems and producing quality work. Assessments of student learning should be consistent and include a variety of challenging methods that will not only demonstrate their achievements but increase their individual performance. There should be an understanding that consistent discipline procedures between the home and school is an important process of maintaining student order and mutual respect. The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative in our school if it is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Three Rivers Academy seeks students from all ethnic, cultural, racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds who can benefit from a challenging academic program and make positive contributions to the school community. Students are considered for admissions on the basis of, but not limited to, academic achievement, academic testing, attendance record, teacher evaluations, and administrator evaluation. Other factors that are considered include co-curricular interests, talents, classroom scheduling capabilities, and space availability. As a private independent school, Three Rivers Academy reserves the right to deny admission to any student. Further, Three Rivers reserves the right to ask any student to leave at any time for any reason when the administration believes it is in the best interest of the school; this also includes the right not to allow students to return for the next school year.
