Homework

Homework is essential to the learning process and should be used to extend and enrich students' learning outside the classroom. It should be purposeful, varied, adapted to needs, and help students develop the ability to learn and think independently. It should allow  students  to  consolidate  and  revisit  previous  topics  (interleaving)and be  an opportunity for parents to engage with and support their child’s learning, without the need for them to be subject experts.

Students should:

  • check their Teams assignments on Office 365 on a daily basis
  • complete all homework tasks to the best of their ability and by the due date set
  • ensure ‘hw’ is recorded on the top left-hand corner of any homework completed and use a title and date
  • utilise the allocated homework time effectively
  • find their class teacher before the due date to discuss the homework if they do not understand it or need something to be clarified

Parents should:

  • support their child to produce homework to the best of their ability and by the due date
  • provide a suitable area at home where their child can complete their homework
  • liaise with their child’s teacher if they believe that additional support is needed

Parents will be sent a summary of Teams assignments on a weekly basis.
