ARTiculation Discovery Day

10 of our fantastic art students recently enjoyed a day of art analysis at the Lightbox Gallery in Woking.

The Year 11 and 12's day began with a tour of the gallery and carried out research, analysis and the delivery of a joint presentation about a piece of work from the gallery.

This 'Discovery Day' was hosted by staff at the Lightbox, and representatives from the Roche Court Education Trust - the organisation that runs the ARTiculate Competition.

On the day, our students responded with enthusiasm, creativity and real maturity, making perceptive points about the work shown. They also took the chance to talk with Mr Chris Ingram, patron of the Ingram Collection - a interesting 'eye-opener' for all.

The ARTiculate Competition is a national competition open to Sixth Form students**. Participants compete by delivering a 10 minute presentation about a piece of art they are passionate about. The Art Department at Three Rivers Academy are looking for the next generation of students to take part in the ARTiculate Competition this year. Anyone willing to tread in the footsteps of our current Year 13's - including Alex West -Regional Final Winner from the 2016-17 competition, should contact Mr Berriman asap.

It's always great to get positive feedback from outside organisations. Josepha Sanna - rganiser of the ARTiculate event- sent the following message of support and encouragement after the day:

"It was an absolute pleasure, as always, to meet your lovely students... The day presented them with a real challenge which they met and tackled with real enthusiasm and courage. I hope that they are all feeling very proud of themselves."?

It has been a pleasure to once again spend time with a lovely group of students.

I look forward to seeing the next steps taken by all!
