Computing
The Computer Science department will bring out the best by ensuring students can apply their study of computing to solve real world problems. This will help prepare students for the rapidly expanding opportunities in the Creative and Technological fields.
By following a challenging, theoretical and practical based curriculum, students will gain an understanding of computing systems, logic and algorithms and an appreciation of the importance of Computing to the world we live in.
Specifically, students will:
- be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe whilst using technology through the delivery of an online safety curriculum
- gain an understanding of and appreciation for a range of ethical issues caused by computer networks
- develop their computational thinking and digital literacy skills.
- develop technical skills that are crucial to businesses across a range of industries, helping them to understand the need for maintaining their employability through a commitment to lifelong learning.
All students have the opportunity to acquire design, software, multimedia and programming skills for use in Computer Science lessons and across the curriculum. We provide an introduction to the computational and functional skills required to make students creative and independent problem solvers confident in the creation of digital solutions. We build on the core knowledge gained as students’ progress through the school and delve deeper into the ever-evolving world of technology.
